State registration of divorce in Ukraine
Divorce, carried out by a court decision, must be registered with the state civil registry office, at the request of the ex-wife or husband.
Divorce is certified by a Divorce Certificate, a sample of which is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Upon the application of the ex-wife or husband, the dissolution of marriage, carried out by a court decision, must be registered with the state civil registration authority.
The union “or” used in this part of the norm indicates that the registration of divorce in the registry office can be carried out at the request of one of the former spouses.
According to such a statement of one of the former spouses, registration of divorce is made on the basis of a court decision in the book of record of acts in accordance with Art. 180 Code on Marriage and Family, acting in accordance with Part 2 of the Final Provisions of the Family Code.

It is on the basis of this record that the second of the former spouses can obtain a Divorce Certificate.
The divorce certificate in accordance with Part 2 of the commented norm is a document certifying the fact of registration of the divorce.
A sample of such a Certificate, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On approval of samples of books for registration of acts of civil status and descriptions of forms of certificates issued by state registration bodies of acts of civil status” dated September 12, 2002 No.1367.
But the legal level of this issue, in our opinion, does not require a solution by the highest executive body.
We believe that a sample of such a certificate can be approved and improved by the Ministry of Justice.
